The launching of APSA’s Foot Care Clinic

APSA has great pleasure in informing you of the opening of a care unit for diabetic foot problems.

To mark the occasion, a podiatrist from the Centre for Endocrinology and Diabetes, in South Africa, will be holding consultations from 18 to 25 June 2009.

The objectives of the Foot Care Clinic are to provide:

- Routine foot assessment to identify those at risk of ulceration

- Education of patients in self management and foot hygiene

- Foot care (such as callus, corns, nails trimming, etc.)

- Wound care

Ongoing foot care will be provided at APSA by 2 trained nurses under the guidance of a local podiatrist.

"Zourné sportive, zéro diabet"

A sports day, entitled, "Zourné sportive, zéro diabet" was organised by APSA on Wednesday 13 May at the Mahebourg Community Centre.

The sports day was arranged as a follow up to the free screening day APSA held for the public on 10 November 2008 at the Mahebourg Community Centre, to mark World Diabetes Day.

M. Khemraj Naiko, sports coach for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was present to lead various workshops on physical activity, aimed at showing the 30 or so participants various exercises that can be easily incorporated into their daily lives.

Mr. Kapil Dev. Joory and Mr. Couldip Basanta Lala (Founders and Directors of IFS) presented the cheque to Mrs. Audrey Hardy (Founder and President of APSA) at the IFS head office on April 3, 2009
